Miscellaneous

  • Please visit the website on a weekly basis to stay informed on what is happening in the league. All wins, loses and scores will be posted for all to view.

1. Roster

  • Roster will be filled out online by the captain of the team.
  • 6 players and 2 subs minimum per team.
  • Age limit is 18 and over
  • Players must appear on roster to be eligible to play
  • Team Captains should keep the website roster up to date with their players and subs
  • Teams must have 5 players minimum to start a game. All games in the match played without at least 5 players will be forfeited and the score shall be recorded as 25-0 against the forfeiting team.
  • Starting 2013-14, subs need to play a minimum of 4 games to be eligible for playoffs. There is not cut-off date for when a sub must join a team or have their 4 games in by.
  • Players who play on college level or higher teams are ineligible to play in this league.

2. Match Dates & Times

  • The season dates TBA
  • Banquet date: TBA
  • Most matches will be played on Tuesday nights
  • The time posted on the website is the time we expect to enter the gym and not the time we expect to start the game. The game should start within a half hour of the time posted on the website (1/2 hour warm up is the max).
  • Teams must be out of the gym by the alloted time. Please communicate with the school custodian if you need to stay late.

3. Gentleman Rules

  • Gentleman rules will apply for entire season including playoffs
  • League will follow the rules set out by the Manitoba Volleyball Association

4. League Rules

  • Starting 2013-14, subs need to play a minimum of 4 games to be eligible for playoffs. There is not cut-off date for when a sub must join a team or have their 4 games in by.
  • There will be 5 sets (games) played each night. All sets will be played to 25 points no cap. In the event that the 5th set starts with only 20 minutes left, it will be a 15 point set with a cap of 17. You must communicate with the school janitor if you will not be out of the gym by the alloted time.
  • Every set counts towards your teams standings. Placing will be determined by sets won not by matches won.
  • Your teams placing in your tier at the end of the season determines if you move up or down a tier at the start of the next season. Playoff performance will not affect this.

5. Team Responsibilities

  • Each team will provide a team name
  • Teams are encouraged to have team jerseys
  • Each team will be assigned to be the "home team" throughout the season. The "home team" is responsible to set up and take down the net. They are also responsible to make sure that the gym is in the same condition when teams leave as when they arrived.
  • Winning team is responsible to post match wins and loses as well as scores from each set. Each team will be given a password to log onto the site to post scores.

6. Team Costs

  • Cash or cheques made payable to “Southeastern Volleyball League” can be brought to Rick Unrau or Jacob Giesbrecht, OR mailed to PO Box 8 Steinbach, MB R5G 1M1.
  • League fees are due by Oct.31, late fee of $50 will apply to any late payments.
